The October 2017 edition of Nola’s Thursday Night Throwdown (TNT) will be held at Stumptown Coffee Roasters in New Orleans. In addition to showcasing local baristas’ latte art skills, this Halloween edition will benefit Innocence Project New Orleans (IPNO).
Thursday Night Throwdown is a community celebration and skills exhibition cleverly disguised as a tournament-style, winner-take-all competition. Baristas from around New Orleans go head-to-head pouring latte art, and a panel of judges decides who advances until only the champion remains. Thursday Night Throwdown events are free to attend and open to people of all interests and experiences.
Participants and attendees at this month’s TNT can look forward to a fun, friendly competition among (possibly costumed) baristas, as well as a low-key introduction to and ways to engage with Innocence Project New Orleans’ mission. In Louisiana and Mississippi, the two states with the highest incarceration rates in the world, Innocence Project New Orleans (IPNO) frees innocent prisoners, exposes injustice and prevents wrongful convictions.
Ace Hotel’s lobby bar will be donating a portion of proceeds from a Stumptown Coffee inspired mixed drink special and an extended happy hour special on beer to IPNO. Generous sponsors from across the city have donated amazing prizes towards the event, and there will be a special prize raffle that will also benefit IPNO.

Stumptown Coffee Roasters
610 Carondelet Street
Sign up begins at 7:30 p.m. and pouring starts at 8:00 p.m. As usual for this event, there is a required $5 buy-in to compete, but this month’s suggested buy-in is $10 plus, with anything over $5 going to IPNO. The winner will take home the $5 per entrant cash pot, and both winner and runner up will take home additional prizes from our generous sponsors.
Oh, and it’s that Halloween time of year, so costumes are encouraged (and possibly rewarded)! Let’s get spooky.
