The New Orleans Barista Social Club is calling all coffee and cocktail professionals (or anyone who’s up to the task) to put their skills to the test in a signature beverage competition. The event will be held Thursday, September 29, at the Catahoula Hotel in the Central Business District. This competition is free to attend and all are welcomed.
To compete, participants must feature roasted coffee as a component of their drink. Beyond that, there is ample room for creativity. Competitors will be given 5 minutes to build and discuss their beverage, and a panel of all star judges from coffee and cocktail segments will weigh the merits of the each concoction.
Signature Beverage Competition
Thursday, September 29 @ The Catahoula Hotel
914 Union Street, New Orleans 70112
Drink Specials Start at 7 p.m.
Competition Begins at 8 p.m.
Drinks may be alcoholic, but this is not a requirement or a factor in competitor scores. All drinks must feature the taste or olfactory notes of roasted coffee, and that component must significantly augment the drink experience. How roasted coffee is incorporated into the signature drink, however, is completely up to each competitor.
Due to the format of the competition, we must limit participation at a maximum of 12 competitors. So please act quickly to reserve your slot when registration is opened. There is a registration fee of $20. We will open registration at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14, via a blog post at baristasocialclub.com.
