Coffee After Hours is the educational component of New Orleans Barista Social Club’s programming, and we are pleased to announce A Workshop About Turkish Coffee. Hosted by French Truck, and presented by Turgay Yildizli of Specialty Turkish Coffee, this workshop will cover a brief history, principles of specialty Turkish coffee, advanced preparation techniques, and hands-on practice. The event will take place on Tuesday, June 2 from 7-9pm, and the cost is $10 per person. Registrations are limited and will be taken in the order in which they are received.

Turgay Yildizli, roaster, barista and Turkish coffee specialist, is an Istanbul native who now lives in New Orleans. He is the 2013 World Cezve/Ibrik (Turkish Coffee) Champion, and he has previously represented Turkey in both Brewers’ Cup and Coffee in Good Spirits competitions. Turgay is the founder of Specialty Turkish Coffee, a website which offers everything one needs to make Turkish coffee, from equipment to tutorials. He also works as a consultant, helping coffee companies to develop their Turkish coffee programs. Turgay has made it his mission to improve the standards of Turkish Coffee and raise it up to the place it deserves in the specialty coffee community.
